EMERGENCY ROAD CLOSURES

In accordance with the provisions of Section 14(2) of the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, the Norfolk County Council HEREBY GIVE NOTICE that owing to carriageway patching due to safety issues the use by vehicles (of any class) of the B1135 Dereham Road from 674m southeast of its junction with U35006 Cutthroat Lane for 674m south eastwards (“Road A”) and C200 Station Road from its junction with
B1135 Dereham Road for 10m westwards (“Road B”) in the Town of Dereham and Parish of Yaxham will be temporarily prohibited/restricted.


The closure/restriction is necessary or expedient because works are being or are proposed to be executed on or near the Roads.
The closure/restriction is anticipated to take place between 19:00 and 06:00 from 10 th to 12 th June 2025 but the Roads may continue to be closed/restricted until the 14 th June 2025 where the closure/restriction is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

 

This Notice shall be in effect from 10 th June to 14 th June 2025 or until the closure/restriction no longer necessary, whichever is the earliest.
This Notice shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure/restriction is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 14 th June 2025 without further notice.


If necessary, this Notice may be extended for a maximum of 18 months from the date this Notice is effective by an Order.

LOCAL PLANNED ROAD CLOSURES

Road closure on B1135 Dereham Road, Garvestone for Surface Dressing Works.

Work is due to start on Thursday 12 June to surface dress a section of the B1135, Dereham Road. To allow the work to be carried out safely and swiftly, it will be necessary to close the road to through traffic on a number of dates when the surface dressing work is underway, line painting is being carried out, and cat’s eyes (road studs) are being renewed.

 

All closures will be overnight and access to properties will be maintained at all times. The work, which is weather dependent, will be carried out in phases.

  • 12 June (Stud removal) evening/overnight works 19:00 – 05:00 - Road closure

  • 18 June (first surface dressing) evening/overnight works 19:00 – 05:00 - Road closure

  • 23 June (main surface dressing) evening/overnight works 19:00 – 05:00 - Road closure

  • 7 July (lining/road stud replacement) evening/overnight works 19:00 - 05:00- Road closure.

 

A fully signed diversion route will be in operation for the duration of the works. We thank people for their patience while this essential road maintenance work is carried out.

The work is expected to cost approximately £244,000 and will be carried out by Norfolk County Council’s Infrastructure Department and their contractors Tarmac.

Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO12600) affecting the C198 Mattishall Road from 400m north of its junction with U35020 Brakefield Lane for 300m north eastwards (the “Road”) in the Parish of Garvestone, Reymerston and Thuxton to facilitate BT pole testing works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be between 09:30 and 15:30 on the 19 th June 2025, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 31 st July 2025 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

 

Alternative route is via: C198 Thuxton / Thuxton Road, U35016 Windmill Lane, U35014 Garvestone Road / Mattishall Road / Town Lane, B1135 Dereham Road, C198 Station Lane and vice versa (Mattishall, Garvestone, Reymerston and
Thuxton). The works promoter for this restriction/closure is: BT. Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place.


The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 31 st July 2025 without further notice. If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the
date the Order is effective.

Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO12671) affecting the B1135 Whinburgh Road from its junction with C200 Norwich Road to its junction with B1135 Dereham Road (“Road A”) and B1135 Dereham Road from its junction with B1135 Whinburgh Road to its junction with B1135 The Lings (“Road B”) and B1135 The Lings from its junction with B1135
Dereham Road to its junction with B1135 Low Street ("Road C") and B1135 Low Street from its junction with B1135 The Lings to its junction with C162 Station Road ("Road D") in the Parishes of Yaxham, Whinburgh and Westfield, Garvestone,
Reymerston and Thuxton and Hardingham to facilitate stud removal, lining and surface dressing works, the Roads A-D will be temporarily closed/restricted (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be between 19:00 and 05:00 from 12th June to 11th July 2025 only whilst signs indicate closures are in place, but may continue to be
closed/restricted until the 11th January 2026 where the closure/restriction is still required beyond the anticipated dates. NB – These are phased works which are planned to take place as follows. Phase 1 is 12 th to 14 th June, Phase 2 is 18 th to 20 th June, Phase 3 is 23 rd to 26 th June, Phase 4 is 7 th to 11 th July.

Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Roads A and B where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place. The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works/when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 11 th January 2026 without further
notice. If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the Order is effective.

Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO12186) affecting the C200 Norwich Road from its junction with U35006 Paper Street for 160m eastwards (the “Road”) in the Parish of Yaxham to facilitate pole testing works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary
which is anticipated to be between 09:30 and 15:00 on 7th April 2025, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 19th May 2025 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.

 

Alternative route is via: C200 Norwich Road/ Yaxham Road/ Dereham Road/ Norwich Road/ Mattishall Road, C167 Barnham Broom Road/ Honingham Road/ Bell Road/ Rush Green/ Barnham Broom Road/ Dereham Road/ Norwich Road/ Low Street/ The Lings/ Dereham Road/ Whinburgh Road (Hardingham, Garvestone, Reymerston and Thuxton, Yaxham, Whinburgh and Westfield, Barnham Broom,
Brandon Parva, Coston, Runhall and Welborne, Kimberley, East Tuddenham, Mattishall).

 

The works promoter for this restriction/closure is: BT Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road where signs
indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place. The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the
closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 19th May 2025 without further notice.

Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO12047) affecting the C160 Woodrising Road from its junction with U35039 Hook Lane for 100m north-westwards (the “Road”) in the Parish of Cranworth to facilitate BT pole replacement works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be between 08:00 and 17:00 from 14th to 17th March 2025 only whilst signs indicating closures are in place, but may continue to be closed until the 28th April 2025 where the closure is still required beyond the
anticipated dates.

 

Alternative route is via: C160 Woodrising Road/ Mill Road, U35042 Townshend Place/ Pound Green Lane, A1075 Market Street/ Dereham Road, C200 Birds Corner/ Shipdham Road/ Station Road, B1135 Norwich Road/ Whinburgh Road/ The Lings/ Low Street/ Norwich Road, C161 Middle Road/ Church Road/ Church Lane/ Southburgh Road (Whinburgh and Westfield, Cranworth, Hardingham, Garvestone,
Reymerston and Thuxton, Yaxham, Shipdham).

 

Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place. The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 28th April 2025 without further notice. If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the date the Order is effective. A person who contravenes, or who uses or permits the use of a vehicle in contravention of the closure imposed by the Order shall be guilty of an offence.

Norfolk County Council proposes to make a Temporary Traffic Regulation Order (the “Order”) (STRO12014) affecting the C200 Norwich Road from its junction with U35080 Blind Lane for 200m westwards (the “Road”) in the Parish of Mattishall to facilitate BT pole test works, the Road will be temporarily closed (except for pedestrian access) for the duration of the works/period the closure is necessary which is anticipated to be between 09:30 and 15:30 on 13 th March 2025, but may continue to be closed/restricted until the 24th April 2025 where the closure is still required beyond the anticipated dates.


Alternative route is via: C200 Mattishall Road, C167 Barnham Broom Road/Honingham Road/ Bell Road/ Rush Green/ Barnham Broom Road, B1108 Norwich Road, B1135 Dereham Road/ Norwich Road/ Low Street/ The Lings/ Dereham Road/ Whinburgh Road, C200 Norwich Road/ Yaxham Road/ Norwich Road and vice versa (Hardingham, Garvestone, Reymerston and Thuxton, Yaxham,Whinburgh and Westfield, Barnham Broom, Brandon Parva, Coston, Runhall and Welborne, Kimberley, East Tuddenham, Mattishall).


Vehicular access will be permitted to a final destination in the Road where signs indicating such access is possible and permitted are in place. The Order shall automatically revoke on the completion of the works when the closure is no longer necessary or otherwise on the 24th April 2025 without further notice. If necessary, the restriction could run for a maximum period of 18 months from the
date the Order is effective.
