Planning

Comments on planning applications can be made to Breckland Council on the planning portal here. You can also let the Parish Council know your views via the Parish Clerk and these will be considered before the councillors submit comments on behalf of the Parish Council.

Planning permission for new buildings or change of use for existing buildings is granted by Breckland Council. Breckland consults with the Parish Council on all planning applications within the parish: the councillors make comments on whether they support the application, oppose it or have no objections, with their reasons. Breckland Council do not always make the decision the Parish Council wishes for, but the Parish Council's views are taken into consideration. For particularly controversial or large planning applications, the Parish Council can ask our District Councillor to call the decision in for discussion by the Planning Committee.

The Parish Council welcomes the views of residents of the parish on planning applications, and takes any views it has been made aware of when considering what comments to submit. If you would like to put your views to the Parish Council, please either contact the Parish Clerk by phone, email or post, or attend the meeting at which the planning application is to be discussed where you will be able to put your views during the part of the meeting set aside for members of the public.

All residents can also comment on planning applications directly to Breckland Council.

You can search for present and past planning applications on Breckland Council's website.  To search for planning applications in the parish, select "Garvestone" in the drop-down for "Parish".
